Currently the Director of the Berkeley-based Diatrope Institute, Amy Ione is an educator whose work has focused on creativity and innovation in art and science.

Recent projects include an invited contribution on neurological illustration to the Handbook of Clinical Neurology (forthcoming) and serving as a Special Editor for a nine-article compendium published by the Journal of the History of Neuroscience devoted to Visual Images and Visualization (2008). In the past, she has published several books, most recently Innovation and Visualization: Trajectories, Strategies, and Myths (Rodopi, 2005). Ione has also widely published in the books and journals of several disciplines, including Trends in Cognitive Science, The Encyclopedia of Creativity, Leonardo, and the Journal of Consciousness Studies.

From 2005-2007, she served as a Chair of the Leonardo Education Forum, organized to foster creative engagements among art, science, and technology around the word.  Ione is also a practicing artist.
Her artwork has been commissioned by the City of San Francisco, exhibited in Denmark, and is found in many collections. More information about her work is available at http://www.amyione-online.com.
